World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades increase the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also increase bonuses, such as PvE damage and crit chance.
For example, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will take on 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost increases with the item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets to give them a stat boost or to add an additional effect. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components are only available to equipment that has a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to a blue level before a component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the items that are not ascending back. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it is applied to (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' is changed to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to make stronger versions of the equipment using the smallest amount of Upgrade Crystals than are required to achieve the same upgrade level through normal methods.
A 'boost upgrade' can alter the defense or attack properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them from the cash shop or obtaining them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.
Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will be available during the next reset. This gives the player some incentive to continue improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of the extent to which it will improve after a future reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process may be expensive, and there is a significant possibility that the item will become obsolete or even break if it fails; a failed upgrade will ruin the Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. Cash shop items can be used to decrease or eliminate the chance of failure. Some upgrades also offer the player a bonus if they are they are reinserted.
Glyphs
Glyphs are upgrade parts that can be inserted into special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs buff the effectiveness of all nodes in the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in numerous ways. We recommend upgrading them as quickly as possible to level 15.
You will often find in the endgame that putting Glyphs is the best method to upgrade your equipment. These are the only upgrade component that can be upgraded to level 15 and offer an enormous boost to your power on the Paragon Board.
Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced, but Glyphs are the only upgrade component that can be removed and replaced without restrictions. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and re-placed using the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
Each Glyph has a particular range of values it can improve a statistic by. The value is displayed when you select the Glyph in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with another Glyph with the same rank, or a higher rank, which will increase the value of the Glyph.
Glyphs can be found in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of an Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use as well as during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has the chance of dropping one of the many Glyphs as well as some rare Glyphs that can be obtained as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Leveling
The upgrade system for items lets players increase the performance of specific items by putting upgraded components into them. This is referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item comes with a level that determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded item upgrade can be upgraded up to a maximum of 385 ilvl. Each level of an item requires a different number of components to be reached, and the upgrade costs increase as the item gets upgraded.
Certain upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item, and once enough points have been earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When the player improves an item, the base item is replaced by a new item. The same armor will receive a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This could be a disadvantage in that the item could be more expensive even if you don't need it.
The upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough reroll tokens to do so. This causes the item to be exchanged for a new one, which will have an initial level and a completely different set of bonus bonuses. This can be useful, but should not be used frequently as it can be a waste of resources.
Certain upgrades can boost their value and allow players to modify their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides an increase in power if the player is repeatedly in or leaves the water. It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time raising the maximum roll by an increment of 10. This item is highly useful in PvP. A well-rolled version can be worth up to 50x the value of its non-upgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items allows players to boost the level of their available equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by providing the appropriate currency and items to an NPC who upgrades items. The upgrade of armor set pieces will also boost the defense base of the item, and upgrading weapon items will increase the base damage and required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear, which can be upgraded with eight upgrades. Each time you upgrade a piece of equipment, it has a chance of failing. The failure rate increases when you exceed the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to return to its original condition and the player having to pay for more resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item fails to upgrade, the amount of accumulated experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Additionally the item will lose any bonus it earned, including crit chance and attack damage, and all additional effects associated with the effect (for instance, an increase in heal over time or the speed of reloading). The player is able to use their weapon or armor after the failure.
Whenever an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that the weapon that is upgraded increases its crit chance it will be applied prior to any attack damage increases. Slots is a brand-new attribute that has been added to item definitions. The value is calculated each time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined by its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to its value. For example, a common item might have five upgrades at a cost. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading than standard gear--for instance, they might require fewer sowels, but they will require more minerals and erons. Players will still have to carry each piece of gear they wish to upgrade to the NPC [Armor] Boboko located in Central Flarine. Each upgrade of equipment requires different amounts of the ingredients for upgrading, in addition to the cost that are listed above.
