World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

The upgrade of an item can be used to increase the stats of a particular item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can boost an item's Rarity or Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next one by a set amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increase when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all its upgraded perks (attack magic attack, attack defense). Upgrades to items can be costly dependent on the upgrader and the kind of upgrade you decide to make. This is due to how many perks need to be replaced in order for the item to get upgraded.

item upgrader  can also be used to enforce gating requirements when waiting for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It can also be used to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear, since PvP is limited at lower levels. Players can see their average level of items on their character sheet.

The level of an item will allow players to compare the power of equipment when choosing to buy or sell. It's an indicator of the item's condition and its quality. Comparing items in a vendor's stock is possible using the level of the item.

On PC, you are able to view the item level by pressing ALT or using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are various theories on how the item level calculation is carried out. One theory suggests that the level of an item is determined by an equation that determines the value of the stats of an item really are. It considers the fact that different perks have different worth and gems in sockets increase the item's overall value. This could result in an item's ilvl calculated, which is often very close to Blizzards actual item level.

However, this is not the only factor that determines the ilvl of an item, because the level of the region the item is dropped into can alter the value of its stats, for instance by adding an amount to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have higher the ilvl than items from lower level instances.

Item Stats

Item stats are a big part of what determines the value of an item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in a variety of ways to encourage players to use multiple weapons, and prevent one weapon from being "the best." The base stats on a weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat mods, which are themselves increased by the player's skill.

Item upgrades add to that by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines the upgrade cost. For instance, a gray or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas an item with the rare levels will be upgraded multiple times, at higher costs.

Affixes are a different method to alter the stats of an item. They are stat boosts which can be added by the player to an item. The affixes can be used to give items extra damage or special capabilities (such as revitalizing dead or reducing cooling downs), or to distinguish them by adding a name.

At present, all affixes can be rerolled by selecting them from the upgrade window and pressing the green button using circling arrows. It will cost a set amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, as with other rerolling methods.

Players can choose to upgrade an item to specific stats, or reroll affixes. The possible ranges of stats for an item are determined by the item level, but every item is guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the range, unless it is a unique item or a God roll from a boss of a raid.

This is another thing that can be modified by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without rolling the affixes, or selecting which stats to increase. But, like base equipment, this would need to be done on a per-item basis and the interface for item comparison will not show all the stats that could be that were gained or lost at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player increases the chance of finding items as well as the properties created by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it doesn't directly impact damage or the ability to  upgrade item s. It gives players a chance to upgrade their gear in earlier waves, and is therefore more valuable in the early game as opposed to later ones, as most players prioritize greater weapon scaling and defense over raw damage gains.

Luck can also increase the chance of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each item level. They can also be increased by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, shields, and armor can be made or spawn using the Luck property, with the default value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather or oak boards (depending on the type of material used) to grant a further +40 Luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.

Certain items, such as the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be crafted to increase the damage of any ability that causes damage by 5%. These items are available in the shops or made with the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Upgrades to items can be a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. However, there are cash shop items that allow players to increase their chances of success or even prevent themselves from losing an item if the upgrade fails.

The success rate of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the likelihood of successfully upgrading an item. This can be increased with Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations to how much success rates can be increased and the probability of a failed upgrade cannot be greater than 100%..

The performance of an upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. Every item has an overall success rate of 25 percent and each item with Luck increases this chance by five percent.

The upgrade overlays for items are rendered above items in the inventory. This may cause obscurity to enchantment effects or other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
